FAQs
Frequently asked questions about biometric payments
How do you Register and Enroll?
First, the customer needs to execute a regular credit card transaction at a FortressPay participating merchant. Once they pay, they will get an option to enroll by scanning a QR code, take a selfie, and enrollment is complete in under 2 sec. The data is encrypted, bind to your default credit card, and stored hashed in AWS cloud server.
How do you make a biometric payment?
Once you have enrolled, you can use a selfie at that merchant, with the card they previously used, moving forward, or not, entirely up to you as a user. All they have to do is scan the QR code, smile and done! You will be sent your receipt by SMA or email as well.
What is FortressPay Wallet? (coming soon)
After initial enrollment, the user will get an invitation to use a web wallet or download an Android or IOS wallet, where they can make regular NFC payments (Android), add cards, and leverage new advanced features, like Rewards management
How secure are biometric payments?
Like other technologies that utilize biometrics (e.g., phones or laptops), biometric payments obfuscate or mask your identity data into a hash. Also, since biometric payments using QR Code or NFC technology, it’s difficult for fraudulent parties to hack since the range is under four inches. And even if you were to lose your card, it would be almost impossible to use without your selfie, further reducing the risk of fraud.
Do I need additional hardware if I want to accept payments biometrically?
Since a biometric card payment is essentially just a mobile device, merchants don’t need to purchase additional hardware. And because contactless payments also don’t add on extra hidden charges or fees, you don’t need to worry about operating at a loss.
How much time does it take to pay with your face?
A contactless biometric payment takes significantly less time than manually entering a card or PIN and Chip or swipe. Biometric solutions can create a better payment experience, improving brand loyalty and helping high-volume businesses serve customers faster.
